Relaxation with the Animals

I still can't get over how beautiful yesterday was.  It  was seventy degrees with not a cloud in the sky.  Yama and Jinx were loving it as well.  Yama was outside almost all day and I'm pretty sure Jinx only left the kitchen window for food.  I barely put down Game of Thrones.  It was wonderful.

I'm fixing my hair today.  I know a lot of you said you liked the dark blue and purple but it really wasn't what I wanted.  I sat around all day yesterday with a conditioner cap on my head and it pulled almost all the color out.  Today I will be heading in to the city to pick up a few things and then back home with Nanc' to try to fix it.  Crossing my fingers for a lot less green!

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far.  I can't believe tomorrow is already Friday!

Traumatized Cats And Hair Confessions

Ohhhh.... today has been an interesting day.

I woke up and came downstairs, started my usual morning ritual.  Coffee pot on, take the dog outside, feed the dog, water the dog, feed the fish, check email.  After about 20 minutes I realize I haven't seen Jinx yet.  Hmm....... where could he be?  I grab his treat can and give it a shake.  No Jinx.  Check upstairs in his favorite hiding hole.  No Jinx.  Panic sets in.  Queue crazy cat mom moment.  Even typing about it makes me stressed out a bit.

I couldn't find my cat anywhere.  ANYWHERE.  I looked all over my house.  I was opening cabinets and looking in the fridge (and the freezer, and the dryer, AND the washer).  I checked all the bedrooms about 89 times and looked under the couches about 200.  Still no Jinx.  I'm hysterical.  I call my mother and I call the husband... all the while running around my house and looking everywhere.  I check outside and I peek in the garage a few times.

Crying.  Crying.  Crying.

I'm in the kitchen and in from the laundry room walks a puffed up cat covered in cob webs. JINXY MINXY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!!!!  Somehow that little devil sneaked in to the garage during the night.  I have no idea how long he was in there but he was definitely shook up from the experience.  Poor little guy.  :P  He's all better now though, even attacked me for some bread while I was eating a sandwich for lunch.  He loves bread and ignores lunch meat.  Weirdo.

I also have a confession to make in this post.  I took my dreads out!!  I know, I only put them in like a week ago but I swear I have a good reason.  They were long as crap.  And crazy heavy.  I plan to shorten them a bit and put them back in very soon.  And add some orange in the mix.  :) :)

Tonight I'm going to be making an awesome Italian-style soup with chicken and oregano and pasta.  I promise I will share it with you in the near future.  Mike and I are enjoying some time together before he goes to Kentucky for some work training next week.  Not looking forward to that at all!

Hope you guys are having a great week!

P.S. -- I just realized this post is kind of long..... woops!  :P

Dreading Like Crazy!

I am making myself some synthetic dreads!  I'm super pumped for a crazy hair change and this is it. :)  I've been dreading all morning and I'll most likely be doing it the rest of the day as well.  Jinx and Yama are chilling with me in the living room catching up on some Mad Men.  Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

See you on the other side!

Sweet and Sour Pork Chops

Sweet & Sour Pork Chop Glaze

4 pork chops
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1 lime, juiced
1 teaspoon red chili flakes
salt and pepper

combine add ingredients in plastic bag and let marinade at least 20 minutes
Grill pork chops, brushing with marinade early on

DELICIOUS!

Mike and I made these pork chops a few days ago and they were amazing!  We ate them with steamed broccoli and white rice.  I've been trying to find recipes that can enter our "regulars" and I know this one I will definitely be repeating.

Apologizes for the short post yesterday.  Mike has been having some issues with his elbow the past few days and we have been in and out of clinics and doctors' offices.  Finally this morning we found out he has septic bursitis with a staff infection.  They have him a round of antibiotics and he should be all better sometime this weekend.  It was a relief to finally get some answers.  Now we are just planning on having him rest up and get better.

I am planning on trying to post a recipe at least once a week for you guys.  If you missed the last one (Shrimp Creole that was amaaazing) you can find it here!

Aren't They Precious!

I had a post full of some great Etsy finds all ready to go for today until I woke up and decided.... today is made for cuteness.  It's time for some animals!  Jinx was also being pretty good for the camera which is rare.  Had to take advantage of it!

Yama is getting HUGE! We weighed him the other day and he is 75 pounds!  And only seven months old.... so crazy.  I can't imagine him much bigger than he already is.

Ok, so I said Jinx was being good for the camera but I didn't say he was in a good mood. Doesn't he look moody in this picture?  He is such a grouch in the mornings!

This is my female betta fish, Chloe!  I have had her for almost a year now.  She actually has a ton of personality for a fish. She gets excited and swims up and down when I sit down and tries to attack my finger if I put it near the tank.... :)

Rupert! The newest addition to the family.  He is a male betta and the reason for the new tank.  Unfortunately, I can't put the two of them together!  Lovers forever separated, I suppose. :P

The new tank! Sorry the lighting is so bad!  I was having such a hard time getting a good shot without a horrible glare.

My desk is clean!  I promise this is the only time you will see it like this.  Most of the time it is a cluttered mess.  On a normal day you can find books, embroidery thread, nail polish, netflix envelopes, candy..... :)

Mike's mother lives in Louisiana right down the road from Troy Landry (from Swamp People!!) She sent us two shirts and a bumper sticket that says "Choot Em!", one of the phrases Troy is known for.  We knew they lived in the same town but were shocked when she told us she knew him!  So exciting!  He is our favorite person on that show.  Also, the purple is holding pretty well in my hair!  It has faded slightly but still very noticeable.

A better shot of the shirt!!  I love it. :D

Relax... In My Saturday

Taking the weekend to really...... relax.........

The boy is away at work until Monday morning and I have decided to use this weekend to unplug a bit.  Of course I will still be checking the blog and reading others... I'm sure I will even take a peek at my etsy shop once or twice (I just can't help myself!).  But since I am waiting on supplies and can't do much soap crafting I figured, why not?  I will paint my nails, refuse to straighten my hair and curl up with Yama and Jinx and begin studying my great grandmother's tarot deck (more on this later).

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend as much as I am going to.

OH! And watch out for the next post in my Rainbow Series!  Tomorrow I will be showcasing some of my orange favorites.  And if you missed last week.... red can be found here.
