Time For A Change!

It was time for a change!  I loved my turquoise hair but I'm an antsy person.  I like change and I want it as soon as I get the itch.  Pink it is!  I and pretty in love with the color.  It's so bubblegum-like and I have a feeling it's going to fade nicely as well.  Whatcha think?  And also... is it bad if I am already planning my next color?  Hehe......  Oh!  I also changed the style, almost forgot.  Nanc' gave me an awesome inverted bob.  It's really different from what I usually sport but I am really happy with it.  It's always refreshing chopping off my hair -- especially when it's been long for awhile.

Hope you guys are having a great week!!

Windy Saturday

It is so windy today!  Near 30 mph gusts -- madness!  It was even worse last night.  While lying in bed reading I was pretty sure the tree outside was going to snap in half and crush my house.  Kind of freaky.  It was actually pretty nerve-wracking.

I touched up my teal!  You can see it all over my neck and nails and a bunch of other places not shown.  It seems a lot darker than the first time and I am loving it!  I wanted it bright and fresh for my trip next week.  Yep!  Mike and I have finally been able to work out some dates.  We will be going to Milwaukee the 17th through the 20th.  I'm most excited to go to the zoo!  I promise to get lots of pictures.

Hope you all have a great Saturday!  What are you plans?

New Turquoise Hair!

Here it is.... my new turquoise hair.  I'm kind of addicted to it, I have to admit.... I think it will be around for awhile.

And it's Sunday and beautiful!  Mike and I are still doing some cleaning and running around, hopefully going out to lunch.  What are you plans?

Calling for Hair Advice!

So.... as I'm sure you all know I have been talking about coloring my hair a crazy bright color for some time. Yesterday I finally took the plunge and did it!  But.... there were a few hitches along the way.  Maybe some of you who have experience with this process know what I did wrong or why I had so many road blocks....

- I bleached my hair before anything else.  My hair felt fine, not squishy or over-processed or anything.
- Conditioned
- Mixed Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise with conditioner... 75-25 percent ratio.
- Applied to hair
**As you can see in the third photo my roots sucked it up perfectly, yet my strands it seemed to just sit on the hair.  This was the huge problem we encountered.  Why would this happen?  Too much conditioner in the dye mix?  Shouldn't have conditioned after bleaching?  Dyehards... please help!**
- Rinsed and realized my hair looked crazy.  I know I should have taken a photo of this stage but it was impossible. :P  My roots were a gorgeous turquoise and the rest was uh..... greenish with some turquoise streaks through it.
- Panicked and covered it with a blue/purple color
- Hair still seemed to not soak up the color in some places, blue streaks with a faded purple undertone.
- Here we are!

I think the color is pretty but it is obviously not what I really wanted.  I am hoping one of you can tell me what I did wrong!  If not, in a few weeks when this has faded I'm going to ignore conditioner completely and use strictly Atomic Turquoise by it's own.

Regardless, the bluish purple is nice so I'm trying to be optimistic!

Stay With Me in this Dream.....

I have obviously had way too much fun editing photos this morning.....

5:45 AM -- I'm wide awake and freezing.  My window is open room and though I don't know what the temperature is outside it is definitely cold.  It feels like it might be in the 50's ... maybe even high 40's.  Way too cold for sleeping.  I close my window and turn off my fan and jump back in to bed but it's too late.  I'm awake now.

The sun is barely up and I'd love to get my blog post written but of course I have no pictures.  I put up some spider webs yesterday for Halloween and (of course) didn't take any pictures afterwards.  Though there was zero light outside I went out and took a few anyway.  I also tried to capture that early morning eeriness before the sun is fully up and it's still a bit dark.

That failed.... horribly.  My pictures were grainy and icky, not even creepy to go with the webs.  I knew I could wait until later in the day to get some better ones but ehhhh... this is the perfect excuse to play!  These pictures remind me of a dream... some sort of amplified fantasy world where I play the lead role of the alien princess.  Uh... or something like that.  I'm not bragging or anything but I'm pretty sure green is my color.  ;)

Traumatized Cats And Hair Confessions

Ohhhh.... today has been an interesting day.

I woke up and came downstairs, started my usual morning ritual.  Coffee pot on, take the dog outside, feed the dog, water the dog, feed the fish, check email.  After about 20 minutes I realize I haven't seen Jinx yet.  Hmm....... where could he be?  I grab his treat can and give it a shake.  No Jinx.  Check upstairs in his favorite hiding hole.  No Jinx.  Panic sets in.  Queue crazy cat mom moment.  Even typing about it makes me stressed out a bit.

I couldn't find my cat anywhere.  ANYWHERE.  I looked all over my house.  I was opening cabinets and looking in the fridge (and the freezer, and the dryer, AND the washer).  I checked all the bedrooms about 89 times and looked under the couches about 200.  Still no Jinx.  I'm hysterical.  I call my mother and I call the husband... all the while running around my house and looking everywhere.  I check outside and I peek in the garage a few times.

Crying.  Crying.  Crying.

I'm in the kitchen and in from the laundry room walks a puffed up cat covered in cob webs. JINXY MINXY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!!!!  Somehow that little devil sneaked in to the garage during the night.  I have no idea how long he was in there but he was definitely shook up from the experience.  Poor little guy.  :P  He's all better now though, even attacked me for some bread while I was eating a sandwich for lunch.  He loves bread and ignores lunch meat.  Weirdo.

I also have a confession to make in this post.  I took my dreads out!!  I know, I only put them in like a week ago but I swear I have a good reason.  They were long as crap.  And crazy heavy.  I plan to shorten them a bit and put them back in very soon.  And add some orange in the mix.  :) :)

Tonight I'm going to be making an awesome Italian-style soup with chicken and oregano and pasta.  I promise I will share it with you in the near future.  Mike and I are enjoying some time together before he goes to Kentucky for some work training next week.  Not looking forward to that at all!

Hope you guys are having a great week!

P.S. -- I just realized this post is kind of long..... woops!  :P

Showing Off My Loots!

The past few days have been full of packages!  I've gotten so many goodies lately it's felt like a mini-birthday!  First to arrive were my Blowfish shoes.  I won an adorable pair of Bicker booties over on lovely Chelsea's blog, Tea Talk.  I just love them!  Though, I think they might need a new outfit to go with them.  I'll be sure to share it with you when I find something perfect. :)

Next were my synthetic dreads!  I ordered them from damnationhair.  I have never worn synthetic dreads before but was pretty pumped about them when I learned about them from Krista over at saturated canary.  She's got a full set (which I hope to do soon!, check em out!

And last and DEFINITELY not least was my wedding band!  WOOO!!!  My engagement ring came from Etsy and I knew I wanted my wedding band to match. Jorgensen Studio were happy to oblige and I got it pretty quick.  I am so happy to finally have it.

That's all I've got to show off for now.  I need to get back to planning my Chicago trip.  I'll be going in a few weeks!  We have to wait on a few Coast Guard things before we can set the dates in stone.  I'm trying to decide if I want to have posts written up and scheduled for you or if I want to invite over some guest bloggers.  I have never done so before though so I'm not sure!  I promise it won't be quiet here though, even if it means blogging while on my trip. :)

Finally Purple!

It's purple!

Ok, so yeah.... I chickened out on the whole bleaching-my-entire-head thing... as you can see.  I was so afraid of the upkeep!  Don't be disappointed!!! :P  Instead I covered my entire head with the purple and just let it do it's thing.  I think it turned out amazing! My highlights are a nice bright purple and my natural light brown turned this lovely black cherry shade.

What do you think?

Purple Journey

We are getting closer and closer to dyeing my entire head purple!  This Saturday my best friend Nanc' will be bleaching my hair.  Hopefully (finger's crossed!) we will be able to get it light enough to do the purple.  I am dreading having to bleach it twice and sport crazy blonde hair for a week or two.  :)  I am thinking about going for more of a pastel purple than the true bright bright purple.  I have been testing it on a few of my highlights to see how it works out.  All I have done for these strands is mix one part purple to three parts conditioner.  It's pretty light!  Maybe too light, I might just go with the bright purple instead and let it fade.

What do you think?

Purple Preview

In a few weeks I will be bleaching all of my hair and dyeing it a nice shade of purple!  I decided on using Special Effects - Wildflower which is a nice purple with a very slight bluish tint to it.  I am going to go for a more pastel version of the color though. Thanks so much Kaylah from The Dainty Squid for your wonderful hair tutorial!!  I have never bleached all of my hair before and am actually a bit nervous.  Putting funky colors in my hair though is nothing new... but my whole head?? Should be interesting. :)

A few days ago my friend Nanc' put a few purple pieces (yes, they look blue!) in my hair to try testing the pastel theory out.  I'm not sure we diluted it with enough conditioner because it wasn't as light as we wanted but it is still cute.  Can't wait to do all of it!  I will definitely do my best to document the process.
